Detailed 10 days Uganda safari itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Murchison falls national park
In the morning, you will be welcomed and picked up from Entebbe International airport/ hotel and embark on your journey to Murchison falls national park in Northwestern Uganda. You will have your enroute lunch in Masindi town and then proceed to the national park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary for Rhino tracking. Upon the arrival at the park, you will hike to the top of the falls where you will watch the powerful falls squeezing through the rocks of an 8m gorge. After, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
Wake up for your early morning breakfast and prepare for a morning game drive through the driving tracks of the park. In the drive, you will be in position to see several animals like lions, buffalos, elephants, giraffes, antelopes, waterbucks and many others.
After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for lunch as you prepare for the afternoon boat cruise. While on the boat, you will be able to see various wildlife species like Nile crocodiles, buffalos, elephants, along the banks of the Nile. You will also have beautiful sightings of bird species like the colored kingfishers, shoe billed stork and others. After, drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale national park
Have early breakfast and embark on a long journey drive to Kibale national park for chimpanzee trekking experience. Arrive at the park in late evening and check in at the lodge of your choice for dinner and overnight
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
In the morning after breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and water for briefing about the rules and regulations of the experience. You will be allocated to the chimpanzee family to track by the help of the range guide. On seeing the chimpanzees, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them while taking their pictures and videos.
From tracking, you will drive back to the lodge for refreshment and later proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park with a stopover at the crater lakes. Continue with the drive and arrive at the park in the late afternoon hours. Check in at the lodge of your booking for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Game drive and boat cruise
Wake up early for a beautiful sunrise in the wild and proceed with an early morning game drive with your packed breakfast so as to spot the early hunters like lions, leopards, hyenas and others. You will also watch other animals like waterbucks, bush bucks, elephants, buffalos and others. After the game drive, you will drive back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for an interesting boat cruise at Kazinga channel where Lake Edward and George connects. The experience will expose you to several wildlife species such as water animals like crocodiles, hippos, buffalos plus large population of elephants around the waterbody. The ride on the calm waters will also enable you to see an array of birds along the shores. After the boat cruise, you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight
Day 6: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
In the morning with your packed breakfast, you will drive through the Ishasha sector to Bwindi Impenetrable national park. Ishasha sector is known for hosting the rare tree climbing lions and a drive through it would be such a great exposure to the adventurous tourists. Other animals to spot in the sector include leopards, hyenas, elephants and many others. Expect to arrive at the park in the late evening hours and check in at the lodge of your choice for dinner and overnight
Day 7: Gorilla trekking experience and Batwa cultural encounter
After breakfast that early morning, move to the headquarters of the park for briefing with your packed lunch. After, enter the forest for gorilla trekking guided by the Park rangers. You are allowed to spend only one hour with the gorillas though trekking as a whole might take 2 to 8 hours.
Later in the evening take a walk in the Batwa community for some cultural encounters from the Batwa people like the traditional dances among others. After, return to the lodge for a relaxed evening at the lodge, dinner and overnight
Day 8: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
In the morning after breakfast, you will checkout of the lodge for your transfer to the birder’s haven- Lake Bunyonyi. Upon your arrival at the beautiful lake, you can proceed with a nature walk through the vegetation cover where you will spot several species like butterflies, birds, small animals and others. You can also go for canoeing on the waters the lake where you spot several bird species along the shores. Later, you will move back to the lodge of your booking for dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo
Have a relaxed morning at Lake Bunyonyi as you enjoy the amazing surroundings of the area like the scenery, lakes and vegetation cover. In the afternoon after lunch, you will embark on your journey to Lake Mburo national park where you will arrive in the late afternoon hours.
Day 10: Game drive and transfer back to Kampala
Wake up for your early morning game drive through the open savannahs of the park and spot several animals like zebras, giraffes, waterbucks, bushbucks, topis, Uganda kobs, warthogs, and many others. From the drive, you will proceed to the lodge for refreshment and lunch and later drive back to Kampala for your departure flight.
